A quarter of our 6,000 graduate students come from countries outside of the United States. They're drawn by the University's reputation, broad selection of programs, and the benefits of a global alumni network.

We invite you to come and build your knowledge, networks, and prospects within our accomplished and welcoming community.

Syracuse University is home to many highly-ranked programs, including the Maxwell School’s #1 Public Administration program, the iSchool’s #4 Library and Information Studies program, the Whitman School’s #9 iMBA program, and a variety of internships and courses through Syracuse Abroad.

International students at our University are aided by an experienced, multilingual support staff in the Center for International Services. We encourage you to take advantage of these services that can help you with visa documents, special orientation programs, English conversation groups, and immigration compliance.

International Student Requirements

We're glad that you're considering Syracuse University! Read about the necessary requirements that an international graduate applicant must complete in order to be considered for admission.

Equivalence of a U.S. Bachelor’s Degree

As an applicant to one of our graduate programs, you’ll need to provide official documentation of having earned at least a U.S. bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent) in another country. Some programs require a master’s degree, and this must be officially documented before enrollment as well.

Funding Requirements

The U.S. government requires international students to demonstrate sufficient funding for at least the first year of graduate study. Once you’ve done this, we can issue the visa eligibility document that you’ll need to have your student visa authorized.
