Patricia Hallock Mautino's career in K-12 education administration, which includes a broad range of professional and volunteer associations in library and information services, started in 1966, when she became a librarian for Onondaga Community College in Syracuse. Mautino went on to serve over 25 years with the Oswego County BOCES in Mexico, New York, leaving as assistant superintendent in 1996. She joined the Central Square Central School District and worked as an assistant superintendent and administrative consultant for the next 10 years.

Mautino has held professional and civic leadership roles at the local, regional, state and national levels. She has served as president of the New York Library Association, vice chair of the New York Governor's Conference on Library and Information Services, a trustee of both the Liverpool Public Library and Onondaga County Public Libraries (OCPL), president of the OCPL Foundation, a delegate and the New York State chair of the White House Conference on Library and Information Services, and a councilor of the American Library Association.

Mautino earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish language, literature and culture from Syracuse University’s College of Arts and Sciences in 1964 and a master’s degree in library science from the University’s School of Information Studies (iSchool) in 1966.

Mautino is a vice chair of the Board through early May 2023. She serves on the Board Executive, Academic Affairs, Advancement and External Affairs, and Facilities Committees as well as the Board Organization and Nominating Committee. She serves as co-chair of the National Campaign Council Executive Committee and serves on the Subcommittee for Marketing and Communications of the Advancement Committee. She was chair of the Advancement and External Affairs Committee from 2015-19 and served on the Advancement and External Affairs Ad Hoc Workgroups. In 2016, she received the Dritz Trustee of the Year Award. Her Syracuse University service includes membership on the iSchool Board of Advisors. She was a member of the Syracuse University Alumni Association Board of Directors, rising to the position of vice president and creating its Student and Young Alumni Advisory Board. She served as a member of the search committees for the dean of Syracuse University Libraries in 2014-15 and the vice chancellor and provost in 2015-16. Mautino received an Orange Circle Award in 2015.

She and her husband, Louis Mautino ’61, met while students at Syracuse University. (A football letter winner, he enjoyed a successful career as a real estate builder and developer.) They have provided lead gifts for the establishment of the Louis and Patricia Mautino Veteran Scholarship, the Fred Mautino Endowed Football Scholarship, Diana Busch Mautino Endowed Scholarship, Patricia Hallock Mautino Endowed Scholarship and the Mautino-Schiavo Endowed Scholarship. They have supported other initiatives in the College of Arts and Sciences, the Institute for Veterans and Military Families, the iSchool, Syracuse University Athletics, Syracuse University Libraries, College of Professional Studies, and alumni relations.
