A Lifelong Dedication to Social Justice and Education

Known for being “acutely aware of the need for advocacy and action,” Diane Lyden Murphy is recognized for shaping equity at Syracuse University throughout her career.

The Chancellor’s Medal is the University’s highest honor and is awarded to individuals in recognition of their trailblazing and extraordinary contributions to the University, to an academic body of knowledge or to society. This year's recipient is Diane Lyden Murphy, Dean of the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics. Her career is a lifelong tribute to education, and her work around social justice and equality has made a lasting impact on Syracuse University and the surrounding community. Her contributions to the University will undoubtedly continue to inspire future generations of students and faculty members.
