About this Program

  • Turn your passion for sports into a rewarding career through a combination of program-specific courses, professional electives and liberal arts requirements.
  • Learn sport business and finance and how to procure and negotiate employment and endorsement contracts for athletes and teams.
  • Learn sports organization management and how to coordinate and manage athletic teams and foundations.
  • Engage in facility management and overseeing the operations of major arenas, sporting venues and other facilities.
  • Gain experience in athletic event planning to be able to organize and promote games, tournaments, fundraisers and other events on behalf of an organization.
  • Students have the opportunity to join the Sport Analytics Living Learning Community or the Sport Management Living Learning Community.

Sport management students develop their skills through a number of unique programs in addition to their academic coursework.

  • Complete a full-time, 12-credit Senior Capstone away from campus during your senior year with organizations such as the U.S. Olympic Committee, ESPN, UFC, PGA Golf Tour, and NFL, NBA and MLB teams, among many others.
  • Join the SPM Club, the largest student-run organization on campus, or any of our many sport-focused student organizations.
  • Become a general manager and work with Syracuse Athletics as a member of ‘Cuse Crew.
  • Learn in-game production, including video, scoreboard and stadium display operation using industry-leading Daktronics equipment.

Sport management majors most often go abroad to centers in Florence, Italy; London, England; and Madrid, Spain. World Partner programs including CEA Prague; the University of New South Wales; and the University of the West Indies are also available.
