Dr. Marie Garland is the Executive Director for the NSF-ADVANCE IT initiative, The Inclusive, Connective Corridor. The Executive Director is responsible for a variety of administrative matters, including general operations, engagement of project stakeholders, and budget oversight. Dr. Garland’s academic training and preparation is in the area of organizational communication, specifically in the interpersonal negotiation of identity via workplace interactions. Prior to coming to Syracuse University expressly to serve in the role of ED, Marie was the Director of Faculty and Staff Diversity, a position within central Human Resources at Cornell University. Marie also has experience as a faculty member at Ithaca College, where she held an appointment in the department of Strategic Communication.
