Syracuse University Chancellor and President Nancy Cantor delivered the invited keynote address at a major conference of the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) on Thursday, March 25 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The large gathering focused on the theme “Faculty Roles in High-Impact Practices.” In her address, Chancellor Cantor made the case for universities to catalyze collaboration among partners across the public, private, and non-profit sectors because in doing so, they fulfill their missions to generate research and creative activity that makes a difference in the world, prepare new generations of students optimally for the challenges they will face, and serve the public good. She illustrated her points with examples drawn from Syracuse University’s activities that characterize its vision, Scholarship in Action, especially the multi-faceted partnership that SU has fostered on the Near Westside of Syracuse.
