Lil Breul O'Rourke '77, G'04, secretary to the Syracuse University Board of Trustees and vice president of principal gifts, has been elected to the CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) board of trustees. O’Rourke will serve as the District II trustee.
At the recent 2012 CASE Summit for Leaders in Advancement in Washington, D.C., CASE membership formally elected 10 individuals to fill open positions on its board of trustees. The 30-member board sets CASE policies, approves the annual budget and ensures sound management of the organization.
O'Rourke joined SU in 1983, with her work in advancement covering a broad range of responsibilities. She has served as vice president for development and chief development officer; associate dean of The College of Arts and Sciences; and associate vice president of alumni relations.
She earned her bachelor’s degree from The College of Arts and Sciences, and a master of arts degree in public administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.
A longtime CASE member, O’Rourke has previously served on its Philanthropy Commission.
Headquartered in Washington, D.C., CASE is the professional organization for advancement professionals who work in alumni relations, communications, fundraising, marketing and other areas. CASE is one of the largest nonprofit education associations in terms of institutional membership, which includes more than 3,400 colleges, universities, independent elementary and secondary schools, and educational associates in 74 countries around the world. It serves nearly 65,000 advancement professionals on the staffs of its member institutions.
