Syracuse University Trustee Robert Miron ‘59 has been honored as the first recipient of the Bresnan Ethics in Business Award, presented by The Cable Center.
Miron, retired Bright House Networks chairman, received the honor, named after the late cable pioneer and former Bresnan Communications founder and chairman William Bresnan, at the Cable Hall of Fame Celebration on June 14, at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers in conjunction with the National Cable and Telecommunications Association Cable Show.

Miron, who retired as chairman of Bright House in 2010, has been one of the cable industry’s most respected leaders for more than 40 years. He had served as CEO of Advance/Newhouse Communications since 1974, overseeing the company’s cable television interests. Since graduating from SU, he worked for Newhouse in various capacities within the radio, television and cable fields.
Miron serves on the advisory board of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, and recently was co-chair for the fifth annual Mirror Awards luncheon in New York City.
The Bresnan Ethics in Business award was created to honor outstanding men and women in the cable industry who best exemplify Bresnan’s longstanding commitment to ethics in business. Awardees represent the ideals upheld by Bresnan, including continually demonstrating ethical leadership qualities; doing what’s right in the face of adversity—even when it is unpopular; incorporating doing what’s right in everyday life; and maintaining high standards and ethics in the workplace, including mentoring and inspiring employees and associates. An exhibit honoring the award recipients will be on permanent display at The Cable Center.
