Syracuse University’s Alumni Speaker Series will showcase another fascinating career story on Wednesday, March 30, when Marla Meridith visits campus.
A 1992 graduate of SU, Meridith worked as a graphic designer for companies such as Walt Disney and Warner Bros. before pursuing a more entrepreneurial path and launching her own healthy eating and lifestyle blog, Family Fresh Cooking (http://www.familyfreshcooking.com). Meridith’s blog has received international attention for its delicious recipes, mouth-watering food photography and practical tips for eating and living in a more balanced way.
Meridith will speak at 7 p.m. in Room 500 of the Hall of Languages. Her speech, “From Disney to Delicious: A Candid Conversation with Food Blogger Marla Meridith,” will include discussion of her career journey and entrepreneurial activities. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and sample some of Meridith’s healthy treats.
“We’re thrilled to have Marla Meridith return to campus,” says Kim Brown, alumni programs coordinator in SU Career Services. “Students will be inspired by Marla’s talk. She is someone who followed her passion and used her many talents to create a nontraditional and extremely rewarding career for herself.”
Students and aspiring entrepreneurs are not the only ones who will benefit from Meridith’s speech; people seeking advice on healthy eating and home cooking will be delighted as well.
“Marla is planning to talk about strategies for developing healthy meals,” says Brown. “Since she cooks for a family of four every day, she has some great tips for creating balanced, tasty meals at home.”
Meridith’s speech will be open to the public. It is part of SU’s Alumni Speaker Series, sponsored by Career Services and the Office of Alumni Relations.
