Joel Schoenfeld ’73, an entertainment attorney and partner at Mitchell, Silberberg & Knupp LLC, will present a lecture on Tuesday, April 26, at 6:45 p.m. in the Lender Auditorium, located on the concourse level of the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. The lecture is part of the Bandier Program’s Soyars Leadership Lecture Series in the College of Visual and Performing Arts’ (VPA) Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music. It is open to the University community only.
Schoenfeld practices in entertainment and new media and intellectual property and technology. His areas of expertise include international intellectual property; licensing digital rights globally; negotiating and drafting various music industry label, artist, publishing and songwriter contracts; U.S. and European Union (EU) antitrust and competition issues; privacy and data protection; and mergers and acquisitions transactions. He holds a bachelor’s degree from The College of Arts and Sciences and a J.D. from New York Law School.
Schoenfeld negotiated and successfully implemented the first pan-EU Authors’ Society licensing scheme for the downloading of music from the Internet. He has served as senior or lead negotiator for U.S. and international record industries for negotiating mechanical and digital phonorecords delivery (dpd) rate agreements with Authors’ Societies and music publishers.
