The Division of Student Affairs has named Ben Domingo as the director of Health Services. Domingo has served as the director of Morrisville State College’s Health Center since 2001, and will begin his appointment at Syracuse on June 1.
“I am thrilled to have Ben Domingo directing Health Services,” says Rebecca Dayton, associate vice president for health and wellness in the Division of Student Affairs. “His experience in college health and his passion for student care make him the best candidate for this position.”
In his current post at Morrisville, Domingo developed and improved practice protocols, educated students and staff on health topics and expanded provided health care services, as well as treated students. He also served as the chair of the Student Health Advisory Committee.
Prior to his appointment at Morrisville, Domingo worked for more than two years as a family nurse practitioner at the University at Albany. Since 2006, Domingo has continued to provide medical care to students as a family nurse practitioner at Colgate University. In 2010, Domingo began volunteering his time and skills at the Poverello Health Center to uninsured community members, providing primary and urgent care services.
“I am excited and honored to have been chosen to be part of the Syracuse University Health Center team,” says Domingo. “I look forward to continuing the tradition of providing good patient care and outreach to the Syracuse University community.”
A native of Watertown, Domingo earned his master’s of science degree in nursing from the Sage Graduate School of Health Sciences in 1998. He received his R.N. degree from the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1995, and his bachelor’s degree in communications from the University at Albany in 1993.
Since 1998, Domingo is an ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center) board-certified F.N.P. and New York State-licensed R.N. and F.N.P.
