Syracuse University will host “Experiential Learning for Tomorrow’s Technology Leaders,” a Global Enterprise Technology (GET) Curriculum Workshop, on Wednesday, May 25, at the Sheraton Syracuse University Hotel and Conference Center.
The workshop is made possible by support from the National Science Foundation, JPMorgan Chase & Co. and SU. It is designed to expose faculty and career services representatives to SU’s Global Enterprise Technology (GET) programs and to explore the knowledge and skills needed to work effectively in large, technology-driven global organizations.
Developed at SU in collaboration with JPMorgan Chase & Co., the GET curriculum and immersion experience extended internships help students prepare to become leaders in the large-scale, complex global marketplace. The workshop will explore how to best prepare students to be future technology leaders in global enterprise organizations.
The agenda will include a welcome by SU Vice Chancellor and Provost Eric F. Spina; an introduction to the GET curriculum and immersion experience; industry and student panels; a lunchtime address by Christopher Kayes; and break-out sessions.
Kayes is a professor of management at The George Washington University School of Business. He is the author of “Destructive Goal Pursuit: The Mount Everest Disaster” (Palgrave-Macmillan, 2006) and more than 35 articles on learning and leadership. His recent teaching and research efforts focus on leadership, learning and the limits of loyalty. His current research focuses on learning—and its breakdown—under stressful situations and recovery from crisis.
