The full-time M.B.A. program in the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University has been ranked 59th among the nation’s best M.B.A. programs in U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Graduate Schools 2011.” More than 375 schools were considered for the ranking.
The Whitman School’s part-time MBA program—the iMBA—was ranked for the first time at No. 41 in the nation among other part-time programs. The edition also ranks business specialty programs; the Department of Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises in the Whitman School was ranked #16.
“With a strong Fall 2009 class that strengthened our average GPA and GMAT scores, this new ranking by U.S. News is consistent with our current expectations for the program,” says Maurice A. Harris, associate dean of the graduate programs at Whitman. “We provided our students with solid job placement post-graduation and maintained a decent average starting salary, which we are particularly proud of in a tough economy. Those factors contributed to our ranking—the highest the M.B.A. program at Whitman has ever been ranked—and only emphasize the increasingly high-quality nature of our programs.”
The last U.S. News ranking for which Whitman was considered placed the M.B.A. program at 62nd nationwide. The U.S. News & World Report best graduate schools rankings were based on a survey of business school deans and recruiters. Additionally, U.S. News uses starting salary, employment rates, GMAT scores, undergraduate GPA and acceptance rates to calculate the rankings. Specialty programs are ranked by peer assessment only.
