The Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University will host a guest visit by Nancy Martin G’86, manager of technical development of General Electric’s Global Research Center, on Oct. 28. The visit will take place at 5 p.m. in the Flaum Grand Hall, and is co-sponsored by the GE Women’s Network and the Whitman Women in Business Club. The event is free and open to the public.
Martin began her GE career in 1983 as an Edison engineer with GE’s former aerospace business. She later held a series of management positions with that business in the areas of software development and testing. She also held a marketing position in corporate marketing. In 1993, she transferred to the GE Global Research Center (GRC) as a project development manager. Following that, she served for three years as manager of sourcing, and in 1997, she was named manager of the design for Six Sigma Manufacturing Program. In 1998, Martin was appointed manager of the Information Technology Laboratory at GE–GEGR. In April 2001, she was named manager of the Inspection Technologies Laboratory at the research center, until her next appointment in October 2001 as operations manager, GE Global Research-Niskayuna. One of her responsibilities in that role was to oversee all of the advanced technology programs at the research center.
Most recently, Martin was named manager of technical development for GE. She is also the SU executive for recruiting. She has held 17 positions in four locations and has been with GE for 27 years. In addition to her master’s in electrical engineering from SU, she is a graduate of Clarkson University.
