The Syracuse International Film Festival 2010, in collaboration with the creative writing graduate program at Syracuse University, will host a three-day scriptwriting workshop with SU alumnus Rob Edwards, writer of “Treasure Planet” and the Academy Award nominated “The Princess and the Frog,” and Robert Knott, screenwriter for the recent Hollywood film “Appaloosa,” starring Ed Harris and Viggo Mortensen. The workshop will take place Oct. 13—15 and is open to students and adult writers, both amateur and professional.
Each participant needs to attend with the completed draft of an original, short script that will be the source material used during the workshop.
Currently, workshop space is limited, but additional scriptwriters have expressed interest in leading workshop groups depending on interest. In addition to Edwards and Knott, other writers may include Lisa France and SU alumni Jeff Stockwell and Susan Emshwiller.
Registration for the scriptwriting workshop closes June 30.
