SU's Summer College wraps up with exhibitions, fashion show

High school students participating in Syracuse University’s Summer College Program will culminate six weeks of study and practical experience by welcoming parents, friends and the University community to a variety of end-of-program events on Friday, Aug. 13. 

During the two- and six-week programs, students studied architecture, design, fashion, children’s and adolescent literature, engineering, media literacy, forensic science, painting, public communications, liberal arts and law. Community members are welcome to attend the presentations and exhibitions of the students’ work, as well as the fashion show. 

The schedule of events is:

• Architecture: Students will exhibit their designs and model creations at Slocum Hall, in the fourth floor studio, beginning at 1 p.m.
• Fashion: Students will model the garments they designed and created during a fashion show at The Warehouse, 350 W. Fayette St. at 1 p.m.
• Fashion, painting and design-personal branding: An exhibition will take place following the fashion show at The Warehouse. Students will present their fashion and textile drawings and designs, personal branding creations and paintings.
• Engineering, forensic science and public communications: Students will display projects and a slide show related to their respective coursework. The project displays and slide presentation will be at the Hildegarde and J. Myer Schine Student Center, Rooms 304 A, B and C from 2-3:30 p.m.
• Media literacy: Presentations will take place in the Whitman School of Management Auditorium (Room 007), beginning at 1 p.m. The presentations are the culmination of the course and part of the students’  final exam.
• Children’s & adolescent literature: presentations will take place in the Goldstein Student Center, Rooms 201 A,B and C.  Included is a teaching exhibition of a graphic novel. The event will begin with a reception at 1 p.m. followed by readings.
