Writer and director Rod Lurie will visit Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications on Thursday, Sept. 23, and Friday, Sept. 24, to discuss and present an advance screening of his film “Straw Dogs,” a remake of the original. The events are free and open to the University community.
The original “Straw Dogs,” released in 1971, was directed by Sam Peckinpah and starred Dustin Hoffman, Susan George and Peter Vaughan. Lurie directed the remake, which is due out in 2011 and stars Alexander Skarsgård, James Marsden and Kate Bosworth.
Lurie and Newhouse adjunct professor Doug Brode will screen and discuss the original film on Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. in the Joyce Hergenhan Auditorium in Newhouse 3. Refreshments will follow.
