Visiting artist Cynthia Lin will give a talk on her highly detailed monumental drawings on Thursday, Oct. 28, at 7:30 p.m. in 107 Hall of Languages. The talk is sponsored by the Department of Foundation in the College of Visual and Performing Arts’ (VPA) School of Art and Design.
Lin, whose studio is located in Brooklyn, N.Y., is currently working on a series of large—4-10 feet—graphite drawings of skin, orifices and scars, based on computer scans. Her recent and upcoming group exhibitions include those at Lehmann Maupin Gallery in New York City, and Weatherspoon Art Museum at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
A 2006 John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship enabled Lin to have a solo show of drawings of skin at Michael Steinberg Gallery in New York City, as well as group shows at such venues as the DeCordova Museum, Julie Chae Gallery, the National Academy of Design, ISE Cultural Foundation and Alpan Gallery. Lin also teaches at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and Brooklyn College.
