The Bandier Program in the Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music in Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) will present its first-ever showcase at the CMJ 2010 Music Marathon and Film Festival in New York City on Friday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. The showcase features performances by such bands as Sophistafunk, Northbound Traveling Minstrel Jug Band, Sarah Aument, The Fly and Mouth’s Cradle—all of which include SU students or alumni.
The Bandier Program showcase, which is open to members of the public ages 18 and older, will be held at the Canal Room, 285 W. Broadway and Canal St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased online at http://www.ticketweb.com.
In addition to showcasing the bands, the CMJ Music Marathon gives Bandier Program students the opportunity to network at one of the largest and longest running music events of its kind. The marathon is produced by the CMJ Network, which connects music fans and music industry professionals with the best in new music through interactive media, live events and print. The multidisciplinary Bandier Program includes an understanding of the art of music, the business of music, media, marketing and entrepreneurship with a strong liberal arts background. The program was made possible through a generous gift from SU trustee and Sony/ATV Music Publishing chairman and CEO Martin Bandier ’62.
