Ag 4 Africa, company created by Whitman students, moves to semi-finals in Dell Social Innovation Competition

Ag 4 Africa, a company created by Ryan Seeram ’10, Tamara Cohen ’09 and Holly Tassi ’10, students in the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University, is one of just 60 business plan ideas moving to the semi-finals in the Dell Social Innovation Competition. More than 700 business plan ideas from more than 200 colleges and universities around the world entered the initial competition.
After the semi-finals, judges will select three finalists to travel to Austin, Texas, to present their plans to a committee comprising leaders from the business, nonprofit and government sectors. During the final event, held in May at the University of Texas at Austin, all finalists receive prizes, and the overall winning team receives $50,000 to launch its venture.
Ag 4 Africa is a rural development model for Sub-Saharan Africa, focused on promoting sustainable agriculture and self-sufficiency. The AG 4 Africa concept is being developed through Whitman’s Department of Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises.
