Orange Television Network (OTN) is producing a live DVD for local singer and songwriter Jared Campbell at a free concert on Monday, March 2, at Funk 'N' Waffles, 727 S. Crouse Ave. Complimentary waffles will be provided; doors open at 6:45 p.m.
Campbell will perform songs from his latest album, "Beyond the Gray." Marianne Keith, an artist from California, will open the concert.
Syracuse University students will independently shoot and edit the DVD, which will be taped in HD. The DVD will be released later this year.
"I'm really looking forward to this show on March 2," says Campbell. "I've never played at Funk 'N' Waffles, but I know it's going to make for a cozy atmosphere, and it's a great spot to shoot a DVD."
The event is the first of its kind for OTN. It was initiated by Mark Zito, OTN promotions manager and host of "The Mark Zito Show," which often showcases music artists.
"Jared and I got to talking, and this whole thing came together rather quickly," Zito says. "He wanted to shoot a DVD, and I wanted to hold a concert in Syracuse. It just so happens that it worked out nicely since he's a musician and I work for a television station."
Free waffles will be served at 7 p.m., with Keith opening at 7:30 p.m. and Campbell performing at 8:15 p.m.
