The Summer Festival Orchestra will perform a free public concert at Syracuse University on Monday, Aug. 4, at 7 p.m. in Goldstein Auditorium of the Hildegarde and J. Myer Schine Student Center. The following works will be performed: Berlioz' The Corsaire Overture, Sibelius' Finlandia and Dvorak's Symphony No. 8 in G Major, Op. 88.
The performance will be under the direction of James R. Tapia, associate chair and director of orchestral activities at SU's Setnor School of Music.
The Summer Festival Orchestra has a history of success in bringing together a diverse mix of musicians from the community at large to create a talented, all-volunteer ensemble. The musicians include students from SU and other area institutions, as well as members of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra and the Syracuse Symphony Youth Orchestra.
