Syracuse University requires all students who wish to apply for financial aid to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In addition, undergraduate students must file the College Scholarship Service/Financial Aid PROFILE application. Graduate students who wish to borrow federal loans must also complete an institutional application. Students who wish to apply for financial aid for the next academic year, must complete the appropriate applications listed above. All financial aid applications are reviewed annually for eligibility and are based on funding levels. The amount of federal financial aid is determined annually based on federal regulations, student eligibility, and the availability of funds. Syracuse University Grants are generally renewed; however, they may be adjusted if there are changes in family circumstances (i.e. other siblings no longer in college, changes in family income, or new information required). More details regarding renewing financial aid is available on the policy page of this website.
How can you keep track of SU's filing requirements?
After submitting an admission application, students will be given access to their online MySlice Financial Aid Portal. This is an important tool to keep you apprised of your financial aid status. It lists the required applications and documents that our office needs to determine your financial aid eligibility. MySlice should be frequently viewed to be certain that you have no outstanding tasks. The Financial Aid Office will send you instructions for accessing MySlice.
Renewing Financial Aid
Students who received University-funded scholarships beginning with the fall 2007 semester or later, must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 for scholarship to renew.
