Michael Rivezzo, Finance and marketing, class of 2010, Mt. Pocono, PA
Why did you choose SU? It was originally a toss up between Villanova and Syracuse, but I made my decision once I actually saw the School of Management. I was in awe of Whitman and knew right away this is where I wanted to be. Also, the fact they have numerous programs that are national ranked was a factor as well.
What has been your most meaningful experience so far? My involvement with the Student Veteran's Club - being one of the founding members and now president has been a great experience and has helped me become more involved with the student community of SU. The opening of the Veteran's Resource Center last year at the University College, was also very meaningful to me. My father and I both watched it together and it is something I was very proud to be involved with. We are both veterans and being able to share this experience with my dad at Syracuse is something I will try not to ever forget.
What is the secret to your success at SU? The environment of SU has something to do with it. From what I've experienced at SU, I can honestly say that everyone I have encountered is very ambitious. How can someone not be motivated by that?
How have you changed since you’ve been here? I have a better understanding of what I want to do and SU has given me the resources to get there.
What do you plan to do after you graduate? I would like to advocate on the behalf of veterans in a much broader scope. To do this, I would need to further my education, so I am currently in the process of enrolling in law school.
