The Student Leadership Institute promotes learning and growth through experiential learning, community service, intergroup dialogue, workshops, and a retreat in the Adirondacks.

The Student Leadership Institute promotes learning and growth through awareness of self and others, teambuilding and group dynamics, examining community and world issues, exercise creative problem solving skills, and examining personal ethics. Participants are exceptional students who have demonstrated leadership qualities on campus or who have a desire to develop as a leader. The institute’s educational activities include programs, workshops, intergroup dialogue, service project, a formal presentation and a 3-day retreat at the Oswegatchie Education Center.
 
Learning outcomes
1. Students will identify their personal leadership style, their group leadership style, and how to work with others effectively in a group setting.
2. Students will have an increased awareness of their identity and how they impact others on a community, national, and global level.
3. Students will be able to articulate issues/situations/problems from multiple perspectives.
4. Students will have opportunities to build their personal confidence when working with others, networking, speaking in public, and presenting themselves.
5. Students will be able to identify personal values and goals.
6. Students will learn about sustainability and how their actions contribute to the world and others.
7. Students will enhance their creative problem solving skills with emphasis on effective decision-making and conflict management.
8. Students will examine their personal ethics and demonstrate an ability to make ethical decisions.
